This final step in Athletic Performance is imparitive if the athlete expects to stay Healthy and have a long, Injury Free career.

Important Points to Consider
  • Returning heart rate to normal - During your workout your heart is beating at a much Higher Rate than normal. Slowing it down at the end of your workout for 5-10 minutes gives your heart the chance it needs to Come Back Down and get back to its Resting Rate

  • Preventing blood pooling - Along with your heart beating at a higher than normal rate, it's also Pumping Out More Blood. Abruptly stopping your workout without allowing the body to cool down could also cause blood to abruptly Pool in different parts of the body in addition to taking much longer for the Lactic Acid to be flushed from the system.

  • Preventing Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) - Your muscles work hard for you during your workout. They are Tense when you are done and therefore need to be Stretched afterward. Allowing the time to do so can prevent Muscle Soreness (DOMS).


  • Replenishing your fluids - A lot of natural water can be Lost During your Workout so it is important to drink some fluids after your workout is complete to help Rehydrate the Body.
