Greg Anderson

Exercise Physiology Consultant
Dr. Anderson received a BPE and MPE in Exercise Science from the University of British Columbia, and a PhD in Kinesiology (Applied Physiology) from Simon Fraser University. He has been involved in teaching at the post-secondary level since 1986 and is presently a Professor in Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University College of the Fraser Valley.
Greg has been involved in athlete testing and development since 1985, working with athletes across the age spectrum from 6 to 60 at the recreational, Elite, Provincial, National and Professional levels. He has been an active coach in several sports, with one of his teams winning a gold medal at the BC Winter Games.
Greg’s research interests lie in applied areas – Greg performs fitness testing and conditioning research in children and elite athlete populations, is involved in research examining occupational fitness and occupational physiology of physically demanding occupations, and continues to explore body composition assessment. Greg has devoted time and energy to the exploration of issues surrounding fitness and exercise in children, and the development of athleticism in both pre and post-pubertal children, and is well published in both pure science and practitioner journals.
Greg has spoken widely on the topic of the trainability of children, and growth and development considerations in child and youth sports programs, occupational fitness and body composition. He has been an invited speaker at regional, provincial, national and international venues. A passionate and enthusiastic speaker, Greg enjoys translating “the science” for the practitioner, providing them with a better understanding of the fundamental theory behind popular practice.
